Pantone has spoken - and for 2026, the Colour of the Year is Cloud Dancer. A soft, airy white designed to bring calm, clarity and a sense of reset. A notable shift from last year’s Mocha Mousse, which felt right at home as warm browns and earthy, mocha-toned interiors surged throughout 2025.

Calm by Design

Pantone describes Cloud Dancer as more than just a soft white - it’s meant to offer a sense of peace, clarity and quiet reflection in a world that feels increasingly noisy and overwhelming. It’s not loud, it’s not demanding… it’s very much a step-back-and-breathe kind of colour.

The Internet Has Thoughts

As you might expect, the reaction online has been mixed. Some love the quiet simplicity. Others are asking whether white can really be called a Colour of the Year at all. Too safe? Too subtle? Either way, it’s certainly got people talking, which, let’s be honest, is half the point.

The Truth About Neutrals

What this really highlights is just how tricky neutrals actually are. Finding one that works with changing light, different finishes and real life (not just Instagram) is no small task. It’s why we so often return to warm, quietly characterful favourites - the Architectural range by Paint & Paper Library - true masters of the neutral.

Will Cloud Dancer be the neutral that goes with everything? Time will tell. But one thing’s certain: the best neutrals aren’t boring - they’re the backbone of beautiful homes.
